08/15/08: "Aiken basketball star Chane Behanan, the No. 1-rated sophomore player in Ohio, has given an oral commitment to the University of Cincinnati. Behanan, a 6-foot-6, 230-pound forward, is rated tops among Ohio sophomores (Class of 2011) by Ohio High Magazine. Behanan averaged 20.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.3 steals a game for the Aiken varsity last season. He was first-team Enquirer Division I all-area and all-Cincinnati Metro Athletic Conference.

Behanan said he had been offered scholarships by UC, Xavier, West Virginia, Ohio State, Georgetown and Purdue. Behanan said he had developed a good rapport with UC head coach Mick Cronin and assistant coach Tony Stubblefield. "I want to represent my city, where I'm from," Behanan said. "I wanted to stay close to home."

Dave Telep, Scout.com national recruiting director, said Behanan is part of a growing trend of underclass players committing early. "With Chane, the most valuable asset of his game is his motor," Telep said via e-mail. "Undersized guys must have that edge that levels out the playing field, and more often than not it's one's ability to rebound and be a force inside. Chane has turned in some monster performances, and a lot of them are predicated on his toughness and willingness to make it happen inside. The next step for him is rounding out his skill set, getting himself a money jump shot from mid-range and polishing up his overall skill set."

Aiken does not have a head coach for now, as Aiken's previous coach, Steve Gentry, was not renewed for 2008-09. Aiken athletic director Steve Rossi said the school is looking for another coach. Assistant coach Leon Ellison, who also is Behanan's AAU coach, has been running the program. "The recruiting was becoming overwhelming for Chane and his mom, so he decided there was no sense holding back," Ellison said." - Groeschen, Enquirer.com

07/08/08: Chane looked very good today. He does little the things. Has great springs and hang time. He twice beat his defenders for rebounds when his teammate was shooting FT's, from the 2nd position. Has PG-like feet but has a very healthy frame including strong arms. And for a bonus, calmly sank a trey. - Mike Ryan

12/14/07: Mick Cronin attends the Aiken/Hughes game. Behanan starts at center (really a tall PF) as a freshman. Behanan gets two early fouls and has to sit most of the rest of the first half. He has real athleticism. In the second half he has a fastbreak dunk over the head of a Hughes player that brings the house down - at Hughes. - Mike Ryan

07/01/07: Led his All Ohio Purple team to the AAU National Championship for his age division. They won their last two games in the 'final four' by an average of 18 pts.

05/16/07: "Behanan is impressive physically given his age. He has a nice shooting touch, handle and good feel for the game for a player so young. He runs the floor well and plays pretty hard. It's very early but he may be recruited at the highest level in a few years." - PrepHoopsOnline.com
